Man Arrested After Chase In Cedar Falls

A man is facing multiple charges following a pursuit in Cedar Falls Sunday night (Sept. 2, 2018).

Police took Matthew Tarkett, 45, no address given, into custody early Monday morning. He is charged with eluding (an aggravated misdemeanor), two counts of reckless driving and multiple traffic violations.

According to police, officers attempted to question a man after they were called to the Hy-Vee parking lot regarding a suspicious person just before 11 PM Sunday. When police approached the man, he drove off, leading several officers in a vehicle pursuit. Police called off the chase around 11:15 PM, when officers could no longer find the vehicle.

The vehicle was located a few hours later. Police then arrested Tarkett, the vehicle's registered owner, around 4:05 AM on Monday.
