Lots of Funny Money Reported in NE Iowa

DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — Dubuque police say businesses have seen a slew of counterfeit bills over the past month.

22 transactions at local businesses have involved counterfeit money since Sept. 25. Lt. Scott Baxter says reports involve bills with values from $10 to $100.

There have also been some reports of counterfeit cash in nearby Wisconsin counties.

According to a Platteville Police Department crime alert, at least three businesses reported encountering counterfeit $100 bills. Surveillance images captured two women who may have been involved.

Crawford County Sherriff Dale McCullick says his office received a few reports about counterfeit $20 and $100 bills two months ago. No arrests have been made.
