Authorities are trying to determine what caused a fire last night (Monday, March 11) that destroyed a Dubuque County barn and it's contents.

Epworth firefighters were called out just after 11:30pm to a farm on East Pleasant Grove Road, where they found a barn engulfed. No animals were in the barn, however it did contain hay and straw bales.

Fire crews were on the scene for about 3 hours; no one was injured. The estimated loss for the property owner is about $100,000.

The cause is still under investigation, but it did not appear suspicious in nature.
