Local Police Make Several Weekend Arrests

An Oelwein man has been arrested on assault charges.

Shortly after 7pm Sunday, Oelwein Police were called out to an altercation in the 900 block of South Frederick. After looking into the situation, 54 year old Robert Schulmeister Senior was taken into custody on 2 counts of simple assault.

Also arrested at the scene, was 19 year old Andrew Johnson Junior on charges of operating without the owner's consent and failure to have a valid driver's license.

Oelwein Police made two arrests Saturday night, after checking for a wanted person at a home in the 400 block of 3rd Avenue SE. 28 year old Anthony Copley of Oelwein was taken into custody on a Fayette County warrant for domestic abuse assault and 3 counts of violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order. 50 year old Scott Bennington of Oelwein was also arrested for interference with official acts.

And Oelwein officers cited an Oelwein man early Saturday during a traffic stop in the 200 block of South Frederick. 47 year old Darryl Vanorder was cited for driving while his license is suspended.
