Local P.D. Reports Assault, an Accident, a Theft, and a Hit and Run

The Oelwein Police Department is reporting an assault, a traffic accident, a theft, and a hit-and-run.

Officers were called out at about 12:30am this morning, (Thursday, Dec. 10) to an incident in the 100 block of West Charles. Following an investigation, 38 year old Terry Witte of Oelwein was taken into custody on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault.

Oelwein Police were summoned to a traffic accident Wednesday morning at the intersection of 4th Avenue and 5th Street SE. An SUV driven by Shawn Rocha, crashed into a vehicle driven by Justin McGuinness. No injuries were reported. McGuinness was charged with Failure to Yield at an Uncontrolled Intersection, while Rocha was cited for not having insurance.

Shortly after 2pm Wednesday, authorities were called out to look into a theft in the 10 block of South Frederick. No other details were released.

And at about 3pm Wednesday, police responded to a report of a hit-and-run, in the 10 block of 1st Avenue SE. A Silver Impala driven by Jillian Barker of Oelwein, was struck by an unknown vehicle, that fled the scene. There was no word on the amount of damages, and no one was injured. The incident remains under investigation.
