Local Man Busted For Busting Into Vehicles

Oelwein Police have arrested a local man for stealing items from a car.

Police received a report Saturday night (Aug. 18) that there was a theft from a vehicle in the 900 block of South Frederick.

Following an investigation, police made an arrest on Monday afternoon (Aug. 20) at about 3pm. 33 year old Zachary Smith of Oelwein was charged with Burglary-3rd Degree, which is a Class "D" Felony, along with Domestic Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor.

Smith had previously been arrested in May on a charge of Theft-2nd Degree, for 2 burglaries.

At that time, he was also wanted on a Fayette County Sheriff's warrant, for Domestic Assault.
