
Local Drivers Colliding with Wild Animals
Some drivers in Fayette County have had a couple of recent run-in's with the local wildlife.
On Sunday (May 29), at about 11:30pm just south of Fayette, a car driven by 27 year old Brandee Delgado of West Union struck a deer on Highway 150. No one was hurt, but there was $1500 in damage to the 2000 Subaru.
Late Friday night (May 27), a car driven by 79 year old Eldon Parker of Charles City, collided with a deer, northwest of Oelwein on Highway 3. No injuries were reported, and the deer caused $3,000 worth of damage to the 2013 Nissan Altima.
And early Friday, a car driven by 25 year old Matthew Gibbs of Elgin hit a raccoon on Highway 150, north of Fayette. Again, no one was hurt; the 2013 Ford Focus was disabled. Damages were estimated at $2500.
