Local Driver Charged After Crashing Into Used Car Lot
The Buchanan County Sheriff continues to investigate an accident in which a vehicle ran off a street in Hazleton, and into a used car lot, striking several vehicles.
It happened shortly after 7pm Tuesday, June 30th, in the 200 block of North Main Street in Hazleton.
A 2007 GMC Acadia driven by 33 year old Brett Berry of Oelwein, was northbound, when he lost control while rounding a curve. The vehicle crossed over the southbound lane, jumped the curb on the west side of the road, and struck three different vehicles that were parked in a used car sales lot, before it stopped on the west edge of the road.
Berry was taken to the Independence hospital to be treated for minor injuries. He was initially charged with No Proof of Insurance, Open Container, Striking Fixtures, and Driving Left of Center. The accident is still under investigation, and more charges are pending.
