Largest Grain Bin in the State in NE Iowa
DUNKERTON, Iowa (AP) — The Dunkerton Cooperative Elevator is building a grain storage bin that could be the largest in the state with a 1.3 million-bushel capacity.
The structure, when complete, will be about 156 feet wide, 66 feet to the eve and 110 feet to the fill height. The expansion is expected to finish when the first truckloads of corn roll in this fall.
The storage facility is the second going up at the co-op in recent years. A bin with a capacity of nearly 700,000 bushels went up about two years ago.
Grain department manager Will Manweiler says the co-op works to stay ahead of its needs.
The new bin is being built with the help of Bart Brothers Construction of Dunkerton.
