Lake Delhi Water Craft Accident Puts Man in Hospital
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a Personal Water Craft accident on Lake Delhi, that sent an eastern Iowa resident to the hospital.
A DNR Conservation Officer was summoned to the lake in Delaware County, at about 7:30pm Sunday (July 26). The operator of the jet ski, Gavin Cooper of Monticello, hit a wave on the lake. The resulting impact caused Cooper's face to hit the handlebars, injuring his face.
He was also knocked off the craft, and ended up face-down and unconscious in the lake.
Witnesses to the accident pulled Cooper out of the water; he was then taken to the Manchester hospital for treatment. A condition report was not available.
According to the DNR, Cooper was wearing a life jacket at the time.
The accident is being investigated by the Iowa DNR, with assistance from the Delaware County Sheriff's Office.
