In 2020, Iowa was supposed to host the first Country Thunder Iowa festival. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 that festival in Forest City was scrapped. The new festival formerly known as Tree Town was pushed back and took place in June of 2021.

That initial festival featured music acts like Old Dominion, Kane Brown, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hardy.

This past summer, festival organizers brought in artists like Jackson Dean, Lee Brice, Michael Ray, Kip Moore, Trace Adkins, Travis Tritt, Lainey Wilson, and Chris Young.

2021 was the second, and from the looks of things, FINAL Country Thunder Iowa.

Then in November of 2022, the brand's social media and website went dark. While other Country Thunder iterations were already announcing lineups, Country Thunder Iowa was shutting off their website and socials.

We reached out to officials at Country Thunder, and they were able to confirm that the festival is "not returning to Iowa in 2023."

For the past few months, another music festival has been taking shape in Forest City. Denimfest, Organized by musician, comedian, and local personality Joe Denim, this event has quickly taken shape over the months since the initial announcement of Country Thunder Iowa's cancelation.

Denim was a part of the festival Treetown, which was the original name of the festival before Country Thunder took over several years ago.

The event is slated to take place over the course of three days at Heritage Park of North Iowa, the same spot that Treetown and Country Thunder Iowa were set up in.

Denim recently announced the lineup for the concert event taking place May 26th through the 28th.

The headliners who will be coming to Forest City over Memorial Day weekend are a mixture of the classic and current country sounds.
