Iowa State Hasn’t Accomplished This in 86 Years!
The Iowa State Cyclones have cracked the top 10 in the college football rankings!
After Saturday's (October 12) road win against West Virginia, the Cyclones have improved their season record to 6 wins and 0 losses. An Iowa State football team hasn't been 6-0 since 1938. After some quick Iowa math...it's been 86 years since the last time Iowa State football started 6-0, according to the Des Moines Register.
Iowa State went into Saturday's game as the 11th-ranked team in the country and as of today, (October 14) they have moved up to the number 9 spot.
Despite the perfect start to the season, starting Quarterback, Rocco Becht doesn't think Iowa State has played their best football yet. If that doesn't scream confidence, I don't know what does. When your starting QB has helped lead your team to a perfect start of the season and he still believes the team can improve, you can tell Iowa State heads into every game believing they can win.

It's the biggest cliche in sports but the Cyclones simply try to get better every week. Rocco told KCCI,
"I feel like we haven't even played our best game yet as a whole — special teams, defense, and offense. The goal is finding ways to get better each and every single week, and our mindset is just 0-0 and trying to win that next game."
Iowa State is currently tied for first place in the Big 12 with BYU and Texas Tech, who had a bye this past weekend.
Family Event
Rocco's father is Anthony Betch, who played college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers from 1996-1999, according to KCCI. Rocco's father was honored at Milan Puskar Stadium, the home of the Mountaineers after the first quarter of Saturday's game. Anthony played tight end for West Virginia and went on to play in the NFL for 11 seasons.
Rocco mentioned wishing he could've been there with his dad "but I had bigger things going on trying to win this game."
Iowa State will take on UCF this Saturday (October 19) with the kickoff scheduled for 6:30 pm.
