Eastern Iowa Man Sentenced to 255 Years for Heinous Crimes

An Eastern Iowa man was sentenced to 255 years in prison earlier this week.

47-year-old Daniel C. Jones of Clinton, Iowa was found guilty of multiple charges including sexual abuse.

Due to the nature and number of the crimes, court officials ruled;

“The total sentence imposed is 255 years, with a mandatory minimum of 53 1/2 years before (Jones) shall be eligible for parole.”

What Was He Found Guilty Of?

According to reports, a Scott County jury found Jones guilty of the following charges:

• Prostitution
• Sexual exploitation of a minor
• Distributing drugs to a minor
• Lascivious acts with a child - fondling
• Lascivious acts with a child - solicitation
• Indecent contact with a child
• Second-degree sexual abuse

There were seven victims involved in these instances, according to reports.

The Timeline of These Crimes

Unfortunately, Jones was active for several years before getting caught.

2022

According to arrest affidavits and reports, Jones sexually abused a 13-year-old girl three times during the summer of 2022.

The incidents took place in a Davenport home, a Bettendorf home, and a McDonald's parking lot.

Later that year, Daniel C. Jones allegedly solicited nude photos from two teen girls by threatening them.

On both occasions he took them individually to Veterans Memorial Park in Bettendorf, showed them a handgun, and threatened the girl and her family if she did not cooperate.

He was on parole from the Iowa Department of Corrections during this time.

According to reports, he began exchanging sexual favors from a 16-year-old girl for money and drugs in December of that year on a weekly basis.

2023

This continued through all of March of 2023.

Officials report he offered this teen money for rent, an iWatch, an iPhone and hair extensions.

He also tried to convince another 16-year-old to be a prostitute. Reports claim he showed the victim an HBO documentary on Nevada's Moonlite BunnyRanch to try to sway her and said she was attractive enough to “make big money.”
