The election is rapidly approaching, with Tuesday, November 8 being the date Americans will vote in the important midterm elections. While Iowa doesn't have a huge national spotlight on it this time around, there are still many important local races to be decided by Iowa voters.

In the races with national implications, such as U.S. Senate and Congress, voters tend to be more educated as, and I'm certainly speaking for myself as someone in media, we're whacked upside the head with political ads all the time.

But for the smaller, more localized races, it may be harder to learn about each candidate and their views and beliefs. Still, these local elections can often be as important, or more important as the leader's live in the same cities, or neighborhoods, and have a better understanding of their voters needs.

To help better inform Black Hawk County voters, the Waterloo Rotary Club is hosting a candidate forum with Iowa House and Iowa Senate candidates.
