How Popcorn Helps Support Scouts, Scouting America in Dubuque
It's the time of the year where Scouts all across Dubuque and eastern Iowa are busy going door-to-door in their neighborhoods to sell popcorn as a way to finance the future of their programs.
Carl and Michaela of Scouting America stopped by our studio this week to talk about the upcoming popcorn sale, which begins in earnest on Saturday, September 12th and runs through Sunday, October 18th, with popcorn set to be delivered to customers the weekend of Halloween.

How Selling Popcorn Helps Scouting America:
The money the Scouts earn from selling popcorn helps pay for a plethora of different things that do their part to help them gain new experiences, including:
- Attending summer camp
- Acquiring uniforms and equipment
- Covering costs of Scouting activities and events
- Attending high-adventure experiences
- Participating in leadership training
- Working towards individual Scouting goals
Carl and Michaela brought popcorn samples for myself and my partner, Tom Drake of Eagle 102.3. We decided not only to bring our conversation, but our sampling of the popcorn on the air as well.

There are a couple ways you can support a Scout by purchasing popcorn.
- Purchase directly from a scout going door-to-door (ask your friends and coworkers if they know one, and could put you in direct contact)
- Visit the "My PR Popcorn" website to purchase online
