UNI Back in the Big Dance for the First Time in a Decade

March can be a strange month. Warm temperatures. Cold temperatures. Snow. Thunderstorms. But the 'madness' stretches far beyond weather to college basketball. Our first bit of magic in March touched a team from Cedar Falls that was a long shot at best to make the NCAA Tournament.

Northern Iowa Panthers Win the MVC Tournament

The Panthers completed a historic run to the NCAA Tournament by defeating Illinois-Chicago on Sunday, 84-69, according to the Des Moines Register. UNI became the first Valley team to ever win four games in four days during Arch Madness. The Panthers will make their first NCAA Tournament appearance in a decade.

Panther Trey Campbell Named Tournament MVP

The Register reports that UNI got another huge game from guard Trey Campbell. The senior drained six three-point shots and scored 23 points in the Panther win. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the MVC Tournament for the #6-seeded Panthers. The Register reported that Campbell received only one Division 1 scholarship offer. The one that UNI coach Ben Jacboson offered four years ago.

Panthers Wait to Learn NCAA Tournament Fate

This will mark the 9th NCAA Tournament appearance for UNI, according to the Register. The Panthers can rest and wait to see who their first-round opponent will be. Selection Sunday happens on Sunday, March 15th.
