A national pizza chain has suddenly closed all of its Iowa locations, and the company isn't saying why.

Six Iowa Restaurants Have Been Shut Down

The Corridor Business Journal reports that Marcos Pizza has closed four Iowa locations, including one here in Cedar Rapids. The stores were closed as of Sunday, January 4th, and the Marcos Pizza website currently shows no Iowa locations in operation.

Which Restaurants Were Closed?

Along with the Cedar Rapids location just off of Boyson Road, Marcos Pizza restaurants in North Liberty, Waterloo, and Davenport have also closed permanently.

Marcos opened its first Iowa location in 2007 in the Town and Country Shopping Center in Cedar Rapids, according to the CBJ. It closed in 2010, and in 2014, Marcos opened its location near C Ave. and Boyson Road.

Why Did the Iowa Restaurants Close?

That's a great question. The CBJ reports that an automated response can be heard when they called the North Liberty Marcos location, which said, "Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to close this location, and we will not be reopening." So far, a request for more information from Marcos' corporate offices in Toledo, Ohio has not been responded to.
