Iowa City’s Cat Lounge is Moving to a Bigger Location
Kitty Corner Social Club will now be located on an ACTUAL (kitty) corner! The popular cat lounge in Iowa City is set to relocate next month.

About Kitty Corner
Kitty Corner Social Club first opened at 20 S Clinton Street in Iowa City back in February of 2025. The business introduces the community to adoptable cats (from local animal rescues) in a casual and comfortable setting, with the ultimate goal of finding those cats new, forever homes. Kitty Corner has definitely accomplished that goal - they celebrated their one year anniversary early this year with nearly 300 successful adoptions! That number has continued to grow in the months since.
The New Location
Kitty Corner Social Club announced on social media last weekend that they are moving to Iowa City's South District, an estimated "425 (or so) steps south on Clinton Street" from their current location. The new address is 375 South Clinton Street, which is across the street from The Encounter Cafe, directly next to Beadology Iowa.
According to their Facebook post, Kitty Corner will begin the move to their new home in early November. The new space is larger than their current building, and features "a whole half block of windows for people to sneak a peek into and see the cats. And, most importantly, for naps in the sunny spots." They also assured regulars that, yes, all of the permanent residents of the cafe will be moving to the new location, including Goose, Carol, Grandpa Jerry, Rose, and Bercy!
The Latest Updates
On Thursday night (October 1st), Kitty Corner Social Club posted a surprising update on social media. They told the community that the front of their building 20 South Clinton Street is crumbling, and that they would have to abruptly close their doors and move all of their current kitty residents off-site. The emotional post garnered a lot of attention, so much so that ALL of the adoptable cats in Kitty Corner's care ended up finding "happy homes" last night! The latest post reads:
"WOW. Thank you doesn’t seem big enough. This is community. Every single cat (16) available for adoption went to happy homes tonight - in three hours. YOU SHOWED UP. We were overwhelmed by calls, messages, and the hugs."
While the immediate future of Kitty Corner Cafe's current home is unknown at this time, the good news is that progress is already being made on their new location! For the latest updates, you can follow their Facebook page HERE or Instagram HERE.
