What you Need to Know About the George Strait Concert in Ames
It's almost time. The King of Country returns to Iowa! George Strait is set to play Jack Trice Stadium in Ames on Saturday night, along with Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town! It's one of the biggest shows in Iowa this year. If you're traveling to Ames for the show, here is everything you need to know before George takes the stage!
If you don't have tickets, don't worry! You can still buy them via Ticketmaster. As of the writing of this article ticket prices start at $90 and go up from there. Seats on the floor and lower bowl were still available. All tickets and parking passes are issued digitally, according to the Des Moines Register. Screenshots will not work. Download your tickets to the digital wallet on your smartphone.
The Register reports that doors for the concert will open at 4:30 p.m. with the first act taking the stage at around 5:45 p.m. You may enter the stadium on the north, east, and south sides of the stadium. Once you exit, there is no re-entry into Jack Trice Stadium.
So let's talk about parking. The Register reports that lots at the Iowa State Center complex are available to purchase via Ticketmaster. As of this article, only a handful remain on the verified resale market and start at $299. If you have a pass, they are also digital so make sure it is in the wallet on your smartphone. Additional car parking is available at the ISU Research Park and surrounding neighborhoods.
Fans who wish to take a rideshare like Lyft or Uber are urged to use the area around CY Stephens Auditorium. Drop-offs will not be allowed in the parking lots. Tailgating will also not be allowed in the parking areas, but RVs will be allowed, according to the Register.
The Register reports that golf carts with the Cyclone Trolley signs will begin running in the parking lots starting at 4 p.m. They will NOT run after the concert. As for what you can bring to the concert, the same rules at Iowa State football games will apply. A small clutch or wallet-sized bags no larger than 6 inches by 9 inches are allowed. Larger bags must be clear and no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches.
You may also bring in one 20 oz unopened water bottle per person, and a backless seat cushion no larger than 16 inches.
