Costco has announced they are recalling sparkling wine sold in stores located in Iowa over concerns that the bottles could shatter, even when not being handled.

What Product is Costco Recalling in Iowa?

The Des Moines Register reports that Costco is recalling bottles of its Kirkland Prosecco Valdobbiadene. The product was sold in stores between April 25th and August 26th of this year. Consumers should look for an item number on the bottle of 1879870.

What Costco Stores Are Affected by the Recall?

The Register reports that the bottles of prosecco were sold in stores in Iowa. Those stores include;

  • Ankeny - 4000 NE Spectrum Drive
  • Coralville - 2900 Heartland Drive
  • Davenport - 2790 East 53rd Street
  • West Des Moines - 7205 Mills Civic Parkway

According to the Register, the recalled sparkling wine was also sold at Costco stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

What Should Customers Do If They Have a Bottle?

The Register reports that Costco is urging customers to dispose of the bottles immediately. They suggest wrapping the bottle in paper towels and a plastic bag before placing it in the trash.

Costco says that members who purchased a bottle of the recalled wine will receive a letter, which they can present at their local Costco store and receive a refund, according to the Register.
