Eastern Iowa College Announces Nearly 50% Tuition Decrease

You don't hear about many colleges decreasing the cost of tuition these days. But that is exactly what one private school in Eastern Iowa is doing, and it will cut the cost by almost 50%.

Coe College Announces Tuition Decrease

The Corridor Business Journal reports that Coe College in Cedar Rapids has announced a 45% tuition decrease for the 2027-2028 school year. It is for both new and returning students at the private college. The move is part of the school's Clearly Coe initiative. Tuition will fall from around $56,000 per year to $31,850.

Why Did Coe Drop The Cost of Tuition?

The CBJ reports that, according to a press release, Coe officials say that the move is to help students and families gain a clearer picture of what it might cost to attend the school. The overall cost of attending Coe can still be decreased even more through scholarships, grants, and financial aid through FAFSA.

While the tuition decrease is a welcome sight, the Iowa Capital Dispatch reports that the actual out-of-pocket expenses often remain the same. But the transparent pricing and lower sticker price help more students consider going to college.
