It's wedding season in Iowa! When winter abandons ship and leaves us scorching temps, it's time to get hitched! Whether you're attending a wedding or getting married yourself, after the cloud of COVID, you're likely to get walloped upside the head by wedding "things" this summer as couples rush to make up for the lost time.

When it comes to weddings, lots of Iowans (and people everywhere) are getting married this season, but when it comes to wedding movies, what is your go-to? Do you go for sappy romance? Do you prefer hardcore laughs?

Well, wouldn't you know, there's a study that's determined (supposedly) what our favorite wedding movie is here in Iowa.

Much like every other study, or so it seems, Iowa's pick is different from any other U.S. state. Also, call me crazy, but I hadn't even heard of our favorite wedding movie selection.

Iowa's favorite? Well according to the Shane Company study, it's The Wedding Ringer.

Again, I had to Google it, The Wedding Ringer came out in 2015 and starred Kevin Hart, Kaley Cuoco, and Josh Gad. The premise is Kevin Hart's character is a professional best man. A real wedding... ringer.

It actually looks really funny and seems like it could be worthy of a "best" category. That is unless you read what the critics said. The film was not well received by critics and ended up with a 29% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Kaley Cuoco and Josh Gad were also nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award (Razzie), which Kaley "won" for worst supporting actress.

Still, the movie got good reviews from audiences and was a success at the box office so it's certainly not some obscure flop. But, really Iowa? It's our favorite?

Overall, the Midwestern state's favorite wedding flick is Bridesmaids.  Hard to argue, that one was an instant classic.
