Iowans Slept About 47 Minutes Less Every Night This Year
Have you been sleeping less? Makes sense. The influx of constant COVID-19 news has put great emotional strain on many of us. So, it's only logical we slept fewer hours in 2020 than in 2019. The study from SWNS Digital in conjunction with Mattress Firm, and conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Hatch, shows nearly one in three Americans surveyed say they’ve slept worse in 2020 than in 2019.
Backing up, back in 2019, Americans slept an average of six hours and17 minutes each night. In 2020, that total is down to just five hours and 30 minutes. Most respondents also said that they're going to bed earlier, and waking up earlier than they did in 2019.
A different poll done by OnePoll and shared in People, finds 42 percent of people surveyed said they can’t even remember the last time they actually had a decent nights rest. That same study found 22 percent of those surveyed said spending so much extra time with their family during quarantine has also taken its toll on their beauty rest.
