According to KCRG TV-9, "Cleanup efforts by the Iowa National Guard members continue with soldiers and airmen assisting in various roles around Eastern Iowa."

The work they have done so far has been pretty impressive. Without the help from the Guard, the cleanup would last a whole lot longer. Thankfully they were sent out to help us here in Eastern Iowa.

The National Guard sent around 200 members in to assist with the clean-up. The members have been using dump trucks, chainsaws and excavators to remove the debris from yards and city streets.

You may have seen them out and about. I have to admit, it's pretty impressive and they get the work done really fast. I guess that's what you get when you bring in the professionals like the Iowa National Guard!

Looking at the numbers, you can tell the members have been pretty busy for the last 7 days. So far, they've removed 135 truckloads of debris. That comes out to a little over 2.25 million pounds. Again, it's a good thing we've got them here helping us out.

The members have cleared almost 70 city blocks and they're still out working as we speak. It sounds like they will be around for a while, and that's a good thing.

I want to personally thank all of the members of the Iowa National Guard. We all appreciate your hard work and dedication.

When this is all over, let's have a cold beer.
