Iowa Golf Complex Approved, Despite Neighborhood Objections
An empty field in West Des Moines will soon be home to a 50,000 square-foot driving range and hotel, as the city council approved the proposal for "Suite Shots" to come to town.
The facility would anchor a complex including a hotel and restaurant/bar along with office buildings, and be similar to the popular Topgolf facilities. It passed in the council 4-1 despite objections from residents nearby who actually sued to have the project halted. According to KCCI, that request was denied by a judge, the lawsuit was dismissed and the project will go forward.
This isn't the first major golf/entertainment complex project in the works in Iowa. They are popping everywhere across the Hawkeye state which is good news for people wanting to scratch their itch despite the dreary spring we've been having. Golf Lab in Cedar Falls has been a popular spot for those wanting their fix despite miserable outdoor conditions.
Back in February, we told you that a group called Visit Quad Cities was planning one of their own. Learn more about it HERE.
In March, the city of Johnston approved its own such facility. It will be called Bombers and you can learn more about it from KCCI.
Toptracer Golf also announced they were working on a facility in Tiffin with construction set to be completed next spring.
