Growing up, I played my fair share of board games. Monopoly, Scrabble, and of course, checkers. I even dabbled a bit in Chinese checkers! But one game that eluded me was chess. Learning a complex game like chess as a child takes a great teacher and a patient student. Neither of those variables was present when I was young. But a young Iowa girl has proven that you're never too young to be the best!

KCRG reports that 9-year-old Irene Jiao Fei has risen to the top of the chess-playing world. Fei was the winner of the FIDE World School Chess Championship in Panama City in the under 9 years of age category. Fei has been playing the game since she was in kindergarten. KCRG reports that she like the strategy in the game, thinking six moves ahead and trying to get her opponent to make a mistake. I think your biggest mistake would be believing you could beat Fei at chess!

Fei thinks of her competitors as a predator thinks of prey. This reporter from KCCI only lasted a couple of minutes. Probably longer than I would last. Remember the name Irene Jiao Fei, a rising star in the world of chess!
