An Oelwein man, who was arrested earlier this year on drug charges, now faces more drug charges, as well as sex exploitation charges, following an ongoing investigation.


On February 19 of this year, Oelwein Police executed a search warrant at 216 6th Avenue SE. During the search, officers seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Arrested was 47 year old Dustin Staley. At that time, Staley was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver, Prohibited Acts for doing so within 1,000 feet of a school, Child Endangerment, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a Drug Tax Stamp Violation.

After the seized evidence was processed, arrest warrants for Staley were issued; he was taken into custody on Thursday (Aug. 5).

The additional charges filed are 2 counts of Distribution of a Controlled Substance to a Person Under 18, as well as 2 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

Staley, now 48 years old, was being held in the Fayette County jail until his initial court appearance.
The Oelwein Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Sumner Police Department.

Authorities have taken an Oelwein man into custody for numerous charges, including burglary, theft, and stalking.

Shortly after 9:30am Wednesday (Aug. 4), Oelwein Police arrested 42 year old Joshua Evan Moore for 4 warrants from O'Brien County.

The original charges were Burglary 3rd Degree, Stalking, Criminal Mischief, Stalking-Violation of a Protective Order, Theft 5th Degree, and 2 counts of Contempt for a Violation of a No-Contact Order/Protective Order.

Information on the origin of the charges was not available.
O'Brien was taken into custody in the 300 block of 7th Avenue SW.
