
Intruder Shot Dead By Homeowner in Palo
A suspect that broke into an Eastern Iowa house early this morning (Monday, Aug. 31), has been shot dead by the homeowner.
At 2:55am today, the Linn County Sheriff received several 911 calls from Palo citizens, reporting that a man was trying to break into their homes. The residences are located in the area of Sage and Ridgeview Drives in Palo.
At 3:02am, authorities got another 911 call, from a home in the 2700 block of Ridgeview Drive. The caller told dispatch that a man had broken into their home, threatened the occupants, and the homeowner shot him.
Responding deputies performed CPR on the intruder, assisted by local emergency workers.
The suspect was pronounced dead at 3:16am.
The name of the home intruder is being withheld until his relatives can be notified.
The incident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
