
Indy Police Catch Fugitive and Woman Who Harbored Him
Independence Police have arrested two people on illegal drug charges, after they executed a search warrant last month.
On April 25th, officers served a search warrant at an apartment at 1100 2nd Street NE in Independence.
During the search, police caught a fugitive in the home. 24 year old Christopher Melka had been wanted on a warrant for a Violation of Probation, and Failure to Appear for an Aggravated Misdemeanor warrant.
Melka was also charged with Gathering Where Controlled Substances are Used, Possession of Marijuana-2nd Offense, Possession of Cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. Melka was held on a No Bond Hold.
The other person arrested was Ally Bockenstedt, identified as the apartment's tenant. She was charged with being an Accesory After the Fact (harboring a wanted fugitive). She was held in the Buchanan County jail on a $2,000 bond.
Independence Police Note that more arrests and charges may be forthcoming, and the incident is still under investigation.
