Indy Educator Charged with Sexual Material to Minor

Authorities have filed charges against an Independence school para-educator.

Fayla Cannon is listed as a special education para-educator at the Independence Junior/Senior High scool. She is being charged with dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to minors, and malicious prosecution.

The alleged incidents occurred in October of 2014. In one occasion, Cannon allegedly prepared and exhibited written material to a 16 year old, describing sex acts and the genitals.

Similar incidents happened two other times that month.

Cannon explained that the teen wrote the letters, stating a co-worker and former student committed sex acts on the teen, and the child's father was physically abusive.

An investigation determined that the minor did not have the ability to write the material.
