Impaired Driver Leads High Speed Chase in Fayette County
An Elgin man was arrested after leading authorities on a high speed chase, to apparently avoid being pulled over for a traffic citation.
The incident happened at about 12:30 Friday (July 3) on Fayette County Road V-68, northeast of Sumner. A Fayette County deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation.
The driver, later identified as 22 year old Tyler Moore of Elgin, refused to stop and led the deputy on a northbound chase on V-68, at up to 110 miles an hour.
Moore eventually lost control of his vehicle near 240th Street, where it entered the ditch. He was arrested and taken to the Fayette County jail.
Moore is being charged with Eluding, Operating While Intoxicated (Drugged), Reckless Driving, No Valid Drivers License, and numerous other taffic violations.
An officer with the Iowa DNR assisted the Fayette County Sheriff.
