Hy-Vee Is Handing Out Free Hams This Week In Eastern Iowa
Hy-Vee announced on Monday details about its annual partnership with Hormel Foods, food pantries, and local first responders to give away 5,000 Hormel® Cure 81® Hams.
Hams To Be Given To Families In The Quad Cities For Free
Hy-Vee's Hams for the Holidays program stops in the Quad Cities this month. During the scheduled event, hams will be distributed to families by Hy-Vee employees, local first responders, and food pantry volunteers.
As part of its annual Hams for the Holidays campaign, Hy-Vee employees will join with local first responders and River Bend Food Bank volunteers to distribute 300 Hormel® Cure 81® hams on Tuesday, Dec. 3 beginning at 3 p.m. while supplies last.
The event benefits families in need and will be held at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, 2815 W. Locust St. in Davenport.
Now in its seventh year, Hams for the Holidays is a collaborative effort with Hormel Foods to help fight food insecurity in communities served by Hy-Vee stores. This location is one of 18 stops that Hy-Vee is making across its eight-state region delivering 5,000 total hams.
The event continues until 4:30 p.m. or until all hams are distributed, whichever occurs first.
As someone who has driven past this event over the past few years, I can tell you now that this line does get long.
I know it also feels like times are tough for everyone right now, but this event is truly for those who can't afford or who can barely afford to buy groceries and a holiday meal during the season. If you can afford to feed your family this holiday season, spread the word to let others who could benefit from this more about how they can get a free ham thanks to Hy-Vee.
