Authorities are investigating a hunting accident in rural Fayette County.

 

At about 6:45 this morning (Thursday, April 26), the Fayette County Sheriff got a report of a hunting accident outside of Westgate.

An unidentified man was out turkey hunting, and sustained a gunshot wound to one of his feet.

The man was initially taken to the Sumner Hospital for treatment, then later transferred to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
