How Many People in North East Iowa Had an AshleyMadison.com Account?

The hot phrase of the week or month is still "Ashley Madison". Stories are coming out of the woodwork about politicians and celebrities that had an account, but the burning question many want to, but might not have asked yet ... who do we know that is on that list? The numbers might surprise you.

First thought is to scan the pages upon pages of emails looking for one that might trigger a "hey, I know you". That could take days and bottles of aspirin to get through.  WAIT!  Don't fret, if you are wondering what the chances are that someone you know has an account, here's a way to figure the odds.  You might be as shocked as I was

Check out this interactive map from Tecnilogica.  It shows how many users were registered in every city around the world.  Yes, the entire world, not just here in the US. This was like a would wide social brothel. It also shows how many of those users were males. Looking at the stats, that site was loaded with more men than woman, and by a wide margin.

When looking at the map, zoom in on a specific area, like Iowa and you can pinpoint specific cities with registered users, and to be honest, I was shocked at the number of accounts in so many towns in our area.

In Waterloo. 5,400 signed up. 86% were men. In Cedar Falls, 1,999 signed up with 90% being male.That's 7,399 that signed up for Waterloo & Cedar Falls alone.  Evansdale showed a higher than expect count too with 299 total (90% male).

Then we ventured to smaller towns in North East Iowa.  Of the towns I checked out Charles City racked up 494 members with 89% men.  New Hampton logged 381 members and 85% were men.  In Oelwein of the 223 members, 87% were men.  While in Fairbank the 58 members were 95% male.

With all this information, it's only fair to say kudos to Harpers Ferry Iowa, who, according to the 2013 census, has a population of 324 and yet logged in 564 members (87% male).  I'm going to assume wifi at the trailers and hotels have been very active during the summer in this vacation paradise.

The crowning jewel of this little fun filled story is awarded to Westgate Iowa.  This small town was able to claim 13 members in the AshleyMadison.com barrage and 100% of those members were male.
