Authorities have released the names of 3 people, killed in a house fire in nearby Southwest Wisconsin last weekend.


Crews were dispatched shortly after 3:30am Saturday (Jan. 23rd) after receiving a report of smoke coming from a home on Jay Street in the village of Blue River, in Grant County. Firefighters from several area departments were called out, after it was learned that there were several people trapped inside the house.

Three adults and three children were taken to area hospitals. An adult and one of the children were pronounced dead.

Late Monday morning (Jan. 25), the Grant County Sheriff was notified that another child had died from her injuries. She was identified as 14 year old Barbara Hurley. The other two fatalities were 33 year old Andrew Brown and 12 year old Frederick Hurley, both of Blue River.

Two children are still in critical condition, at hospitals in Madison and Milwaukee. The other two adults were treated and have been released from the hospitals.

The fire remains under investigation by Fire Marshalls from the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation.
