Hit and Run in Oelwein Investigated

The Oelwein Police Department is investigating an apparent hit and run accident on the southeast side of town.

It happened shortly after 2:30pm Saturday (Nov. 14) in the 300 block of 8th Avenue SE. A Ford Escape SUV, driven by Debra Leisinger, was struck by another vehicle, which then fled the scene. No injuries were reported.

Oelwein Police officers were also called out to look into an accident involving a deer. It happened Saturday at about 9:15pm, near the intersection of Highways 281 and 150 South. A Ford Focus driven by Joshua Kirby struck the deer in the road. No injuries were reported.
