Hazleton Man Loses El Camino to a Fire

A Hazleton man escaped injury but his vehicle was destroyed, in a fire that started in the car's engine compartment.

On Saturday (May 1), the Fayette County Sheriff's Office was called out on the report of a vehicle that was engulfed in flames, just north of Oelwein, on Palace Road and 45th Street.
An investigation determined that the driver of the 1969 Chevy El Camino, 45 year old Wade Stevens of Hazleton, was driving south on Palace road, when he noticed smoke coming from under the hood of the vehicle. Stevens was able to pull over along the shoulder of 45th Street.

He discovered the smoke was coming from a fire in the carburetor. The blaze then spread, totaling the vehicle.
Stevens sustained minor injuries to his hand.

A young Sumner man was treated at an area hospital, after he rolled his vehicle over the weekend. At about 12:08am on Sunday, the Fayette County Sheriff responded to the report of a rollover accident, on "X" Avenue, near Sumner.
A car driven by 18 year old Dalton Dudley was southbound when he lost control and drove into the ditch, rolling the vehicle. Dudley sustained minor injuries; he was taken by private vehicle to the Sumner Hospital.
The vehicle, a 2008 Ford Focus, had $3,000 in damage. Dudley was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
