Good Samaritan Helps Cops Nab Car Burglar
Police in the city of Fayette have arrested a car burglar, thanks to the help of a local Good Samaritan.
Shortly after 6pm last Wednesday (Aug. 17), a local citizen was exiting a main street business, when he noticed a teenage boy breaking into a car, parked in the alley behind the Fayette Hardware Store.
While the teen was rifling through the car's contents, the citizen drove closer, to get a better look at the suspect.
When the teen noticed the citizen, he jumped out of the car and fled on a bicycle.
The Good Samaritan followed the suspect while phoning the Fayette Police Department with the location and other details.
The teen then fled through several backyards trying to get away, but authorities finally found the suspect, hiding in a home on East College Street.
The teenager admitted to breaking into the car, and told officers he did it for the thrill of it.
The teen was released to a parent pending burglary charges in juvenile court.
The Fayette Police Department thanked the Good Samaritan for their help, and is reminding residents to lock your vehicles, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
