Names say a lot about the firework, really.

Normally, I'm the one in charge of picking out fireworks for my circle's 4th festivities. I'm not alone in that job either: American Pyrotechnics Association stats show that about 250 million pounds of consumer fireworks are set off in the good ol' U.S. of A every year. "Display fireworks" (the ones cities and municipalities use for actual shows) is an additional 25 million pounds.

We can all just admit it: we love making stuff go boom and we love fireworks packaging. There's actually psychology behind this that shows the cool names and bright packaging evoke kind of a childlike wonderment in us.

The Names Are Hilarious

They're names of fireworks, of course they're going to encourage you to blow it up. There are bottle rockets, fizzy ones, glittery ones, Roman candles, pop-its, sparklers, the list goes on and on.

Some names can dip into innuendo too. My favorite so far that I've seen this year is "2 Minute Super Finale" but there's really no limit to the innuendo names.

Meanwhile, other names are just goofy. Which is a great strategy because who doesn't want to roll up to the cookout with a lighter and 'Friggin Crickets'?

So as I was doing my fireworks shopping trip at Crossroads Fireworks (which is in Bettendorf, Waterloo, and Williamsburg) I documented the top 10 funniest fireworks names that I saw.
