The Fayette County Sheriff is charging a Waucoma woman with causing an accident between her pickup and trailer, and a semi hauling grain.


At about 9:30am Thursday (July 26) the Fayette County Sheriff received several 911 calls, reporting an accident near the intersection of Highway 56 and Echo Road, north of Wadena.

64 year old Connie Kriener of Waucoma was driving her pickup and trailer westbound on Highway 56, when she became distracted, and her pickup crossed the center line, colliding with a fully-loaded semi driven by 85 year old Robert Card of Dumont.

The semi rolled into the ditch, spilling it's load of grain onto the highway and in the ditch. Card sustained minor injuries.

Damages were estimated at $100,000 to the semi, which was totaled, and $8,000 damage to the pickup.

Kriener was charged with Driving on the Wrong Side of a 2-lane Highway.

The Fayette County Sheriff as assisted by the Tri-state Ambulance, fire departments from Wadena and Elgin, the Iowa DNR and the Iowa DOT.
