A former Iowa man with Waverly ties, has died in a traffic accident in Wyoming.

60 year old Douglas Voigts of Cheyenne, Wyoming, was riding his bicycle in Cheyenne late Monday afternoon, May 30th, when he attempted to cross a highway, but was struck by an SUV; he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Voigts was a graduate of Wartburg College; he worked for the post office in Des Moines, before moving to Wyoming. His father and one of his sisters still live in Waverly.

A memorial service for Voigts has been scheduled for next Monday (June 13) in Waverly.
