Five People Arrested While Kayaking the Upper Iowa River
Five Oelwein residents have been arrested over the weekend, while kayaking on the Upper Iowa River in Winneshiek County.
Shortly after 4pm Sunday (May 27), authorities received several reports of people on the river who were possibly in distress.
The Decorah Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DNR, and the Winneshiek County Sheriff responded to the Upper Iowa River in Bluffton Township.
As a result, five Oelwein residents were arrested for Public Intoxication. They were identified as:
52 year old Randall Rau, 50 year old Timothy Wright, 44 year old Jolene Wright, 21 year old Rachel Wright, and 18 year old Nicole Wright.
