Authorities are looking for the cause of a blaze that destroyed a Northeast Iowa barn.

Firefighters from Frederika were notified of the blaze shortly after 7pm Thursday (June 8), at a farm in the 1700 block of 110th Street near Plainfield.

The barn was engulfed. No animals were injured, as the owner was able to get the livestock out of the barn before it was consumed in flames. No one was hurt.

The Frederika Fire Department was on the scene for about 3 hours; they were assisted by fire departments from Plainfield and Tripoli, as well as the Bremer County Sheriff, Waverly Ambulanc, and Bremer County Emergency Management. Crews were able to protect other buildings on the property from catching fire.

The origin of the blaze has not yet been determined.
