A Wisconsin man has died in a fiery one-vehicle accident in Eastern Iowa.

The accident happened at about 2:45am Wednesday (Nov. 28) in the eastbound lane of Interstate 80 at the exit ramp to "U" Avenue, east of Williamsburg.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a vehicle driven by 60 year old Rick Inman of Glendale, Wisconsin, failed to stop at a stop sign at the end of the exit ramp.

The vehicle traveled across "U" Avenue, left the road, entered a ditch, then vaulted over a creek. When the vehicle impacted the ground on the other side of the waterway, it caught fire, coming to rest in the ditch.

Inman was killed in the accident; there were no other occupants in the vehicle.

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol, with assistance from the Iowa County Sheriff, Williamsburg Police, and Williamsburg Fire and rescue.
