A Winneshiek County juvenile is being charged with a felony, after he stabbed his mother with a knife during an altercation.


Shortly after 1:30pm Thursday (Aug. 22) the Winneshiek County Sheriff received a 911 call, reporting a stabbing in Festina. Responding deputies found the victim, still impaled with the knife.

After an investigation, the woman's son, 15 year old Nathan Sutton of Festina, was arrested on a felony charge of Willful Injury. Sutton was taken to the Northeast Iowa Juvenile Detention Center in Black Hawk County, and referred to Juvenile Court Services.

His mother, whose name was not released, was taken to the Decorah hospital, with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
