The Fayette County Sheriff's office is reporting several recent traffic accidents in the county.

On Sunday (April 3) just before 1pm, the sheriff got a report of a vehicle in the ditch on "O" Avenue, east of Hawkeye. A car driven by Letisha Leyva of Genoa, Illinois, went out of control, into a ditch, and overturned onto the passenger side. No one was hurt. There was $1,000 damage, and Leyva was charged with failure to maintain control.

Shortly after 6am Saturday (April 2), authorities received a call about a vehicle on it's top on Kornhill Road, southeast of Fayette. A car driven by Jacob Fedeler of Arlington went out of control, going into a ditch. The car then came back on the roadway, entered the other ditch, and rolled onto it's top. The car was totaled. Fedeler was not hurt, but he was cited for failure to maintain control.

And Saturday night (April 2), just after 10pm, the sheriff was notified of a hit-and-run accident at the Pumper Gas Station in Fayette. 75 year old Marcella Klemp of Fayette, told authorities that after she parked her vehicle, another car had struck it and fled. An investigation determined that 69 year old Nancy Flores of Fayette was the other driver; after she left the first accident, she was involved in another accident in which she struck a tree, totaling her vehicle, and injuring herself and a passenger. They were taken to the West Union hospital for treatment. The sheriff suspects impairment in the incident, and charges are pending.
