Fayette Sheriff Reports Recent Accidents and Arrests
Fayette County authorities have arrested a western Iowa man, who put his vehicle into a ditch.
Shortly after 11pm Sunday (Dec. 1), the sheriff's office received a 911 call, reporting a vehicle in the ditch, about 2 miles west of Maynard. Investigating deputies arrested the driver, 22 year old Michel Amouzou of Council Bluffs, for Operating While Intoxicated-drugged 1st Offense, Possession of a Controlled Substance – Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was held in the Fayette County jail until his initial court appearance.
An area man has been arrested on an outstanding warrant. On Friday, a Fayette County deputy took 66 year old Mark Bahr into custody, for a warrant for a probation violation, on an original charge of a Operating While Intoxicated.
On Wednesday evening, the sheriff was called to a car/deer accident on Canoe Road, south of Clermont. A northbound van driven by 55 year old Karla Hanson of Elgin struck a deer in the road. No one was injured, but there was $6,500 in damage.
And the sheriff was summoned to a two vehicle accident Tuesday morning, at the intersection of "F" Avenue and Highway 18, west of Clermont. 83 year old Audrey Vagts of West Union was driving east, and did not see a van driven by 30 year old Lucas Jacobs of Waterloo, which was slowing to make a left turn into a private drive. The two collided, totaling Vagts' car, and causing $5,000 damage to the van. Vagts was taken to the West Union hospital for evaluation. She was charged with following too close.
