Fayette Sheriff Makes Arrests During Traffic Stops

An Elgin man faces drug-related charges following a routine traffic stop in Fayette County.

At about 7pm Friday (Aug. 2), Fayette County deputies pulled over a vehicle in the 17,000 block of "O" Avenue west of West Union. After an investigation, 20 year old Paul Franzen was taken into custody for Possession of Marijuana-First Offense, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

An area man, Jason Hallock, was arrested Thursday on a Fayette County warrant for Violation of a Pre-trial Release. After the arrest, deputies found drug paraphernalia. Hallock was then given the additional charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was held on $1500 cash bond.

And just before 7:30am Thursday, the sheriff conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Wilbur and South Burell Streets. The driver, 19 year old Mitchell Vanhauen of Aplington, was arrested for Driving While his License is Barred. He was held until an initial court appearance.
