Fayette County Sheriff Responds to Assaults and Warrants

The Fayette County Sheriff reports that there have been several recent arrests for assaults, others had arrest warrants, and a driving infraction.

At about 11:30pm Saturday (April 21) the Fayette County Sheriff was called to a fight at an apartment complex in Elgin. An investigation determined that 58 year old Martha Estrada and 50 year old Penny Hanson, had gotten into a physical confrontation. Officers arrested Estrada for Assault and Public Intoxication. Hanson was arrested for Assault. Also, 48 year old Richard Hanson was taken into custody for Public Intox.

The sheriff had also received a 911 call at about 12:30pm, reporting an assault in Eldorado. After deputies arrived, they arrested 44 year old Katarina Vansickle of West Union for Assault and Trespassing causing injury.

Those arrested on various warrants include: 24 year old Makayla Meike of Oelwein for Operating without the Owners' Consent, Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree, and Driving While Suspended.

31 year old Cory Hursey of Oelwein was arrested on a warrant for a Sex Offender Registry Violation.

40 year old Teresa A'Hearn of Waukon had a Clayton County warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Offense.

On Sunday morning, the Fayette County Sheriff stopped a vehicle in Fayette, for not having any license plates. The driver, 30 year old Deidre Lee of Oelwein, was Operating a Motor Vehicle While Revoked.

And deputies were called to a vehicle in the ditch Saturday morning, just north of Oran. 47 year old Tony Howard of Oelwein was driving west on Highway 3, when he swerved to avoid a deer. No one was injured, and damages were minimal.
