A Northeast Iowa motorist is being charged with causing a two-vehicle accident in rural Fayette County. It occurred just before 11am Friday (Jan. 6) at the intersection of 275th Street and "S" Avenue near St. Lucas.

An eastbound car driven by 53 year old James Franzen of Waucoma, was eastbound, when he collided with a southbound pickup driven by 52 year old Terry Boess of Hawkeye. According to the Fayette County Sheriff, there were no major injuries. The pickup had $12,000 damage, while Franzen's car was totaled. Franzen has been cited for Failure to Obey a Stop Sign.

The Fayette County Sheriff continues to investigate a Sunday (Jan. 8) evening accident that totaled a sport utility vehicle. This happened just before 7pm last night, on Unicorn Avenue, east of Fairbank. An SUV driven by 55 year old Pamela Hagen of Oelwein hit a patch of ice on the road, entered a ditch, and rolled onto it's top. Hagen was not injured, but her 2006 Toyota 4-Runner was totaled.
